This is our own data, from our own 2026 price sheet. It is not a US average. It is not copied from some other site. You won’t find these numbers anywhere else, because they are our prices. As noted in step 2 above, this is what you pay us per square.
Every roof we build follows one rule. We call it the Josh Brooks Class 4 Standard™. It is our own method. It has two parts:
- Every shingle roof gets Class 4 shingles. These are the top grade for hail. We use Owens Corning Duration STORM or better. We don’t put on standard shingles at all.
- Every roof gets all new metal and flashing. We don’t reuse old parts.

Underwriters Laboratories (UL)
According to UL, Class 4 is the top hail grade a roof can get. The test is called UL 2218. A 2-inch steel ball is dropped on the same spot twice. A Class 4 shingle must not crack.
Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS)
Experts at IBHS study how roofs stand up to hail. They run a test site in South Carolina. There, they fire fake hail at roofs to see what breaks.
Colorado Division of Insurance
The Colorado Division of Insurance says to get a written quote and check a roofer’s past work before you hire. This is key after a storm.
