Marvin Learch — Two Tours in Vietnam & the Legacy That Built Josh Brooks Construction

Before Josh Brooks picked up his first hammer, his family was already building something more important: a legacy of service. Among the veterans in his family who shaped who he is and how his company operates, Marvin Learch stands apart — a man who gave two tours in Vietnam and came home with the kind of quiet strength that doesn’t need to announce itself.

Who Is Marvin Learch?

Marvin Learch is Josh Brooks’ uncle on his mother’s side. He served in the United States military during the Vietnam War era, completing two full tours of duty. Vietnam veterans from that generation saw some of the most sustained and psychologically demanding combat in American military history. Many came home to a country that didn’t fully understand what they’d been through. Marvin came home and kept going — the way veterans do.

What His Service Means to Josh Brooks Construction

At Josh Brooks Construction and Renovation Inc., we don’t talk about our veteran heritage as a marketing angle. It’s a statement of values. When Marvin Learch spent two tours in Vietnam, he demonstrated a standard of commitment — finishing what you start, showing up even when it’s hard, and putting the mission above personal comfort — that directly informs how this company operates.

That means showing up on time to every job. It means finishing what we commit to, even when unexpected complications arise. It means treating every client’s home with the same care we’d want someone to bring to our own. It means never cutting corners on materials or workmanship because we said we wouldn’t.

The 7-Generation Veteran Family Behind JBCR

Marvin Learch is one of several veterans in Josh’s family whose service forms the foundation of Josh Brooks Construction:

  • Gene Carter — Josh’s grandfather, U.S. Navy, 1950s
  • Marvin Learch — Josh’s uncle, two tours in Vietnam
  • Ronnie Brooks — Josh’s uncle, 11 years U.S. Navy, Operation Desert Storm and Panama
  • Rocky Brooks — Josh’s younger cousin, deployed to Afghanistan

Seven generations of military service. Every project we complete carries that weight — and that standard.
